If you’re driving in the Uusimaa region of southern Finland overnight, be prepared for some challenging conditions.

Forecasters predict up to 10cm of snow could fall in southern Finland over the next 24 hours and will likely stay for at least a week. In eastern Finland up to 30cm of snow could fall.

There’s also dangerous road conditions warnings in place for Kymenlaakso, South Savo, North Karelia and South Karelia.

The danger is caused especially with ploughed snow that can reduce visibility. Packed snow becomes slippery as well.

Snowdrifts are concentrated in southern and Central Finland, as well as in Northern Ostrobothnia, Kainuu and Southern Lapland.
