If you need a sign that winter is coming, the first snow of the year should be a good indication.
Meteorologists reported snow falls on Friday morning in Jyväskylä, Kuopio and down the eastern border. By the afternoon there was wet snow in Helsinki and into parts of the south west as well.
None of the snow is going to stick around, because the ground and air temperatures are too warm and the snow is turning to water almost immediately.
There’s some snow in the forecast for Friday night in Jyväskylä and Joensuu, but everything changes on Saturday.
Expect sunshine across the whole country, with afternoon temperatures ranging from +3°C in northern Lapland to +6°C in the capital city region: it will be chilly, but bright.
By Sunday afternoon temperatures have warmed up a few degrees but rain moves in to southern and south west areas, and central Lapland.
