A weekend on the beach for Finland’s beach volleyball stars ended with new national champions being crowned in Jyväskylä.
Jyrki Nurminen and Pekka Piippo clinched the title, after a tight battle against Santeri Siren and Ilari Määttänen. Next, Nurminen and Piippo will travel to Latvia to take part in European competition representing Finland.
“Well we raised our level as the game progressed” said Nurminen. “Many other pairs wanted this medal, but another national championship gold is a wonderful thing”.
Meanwhile in the women’s competition, Taru Lahti-Liukkonen and Anniina Parkkinen won the title. The pair beat out Ida Sinisalo and Niina Ahtiainen in the final series.
