This was the Finn's fourth win of the season but not quite enough to claim his first championship.

Finnish Formula 1 driver Valtteri Bottas won the US Grand Prix in Austin Texas on Sunday evening.

However, it wasn’t enough to stop his team mate Lewis Hamilton who came second, from claiming his sixth World Champion title.

Bottas went into the race knowing he had to win, while Hamilton had to finish 8th or worse, to keep the Finnish driver’s world championship dreams alive.

But it wasn’t to be this season for Bottas.

“Obviously big congrats to him. I personally failed with my target this year but he deserved it this year. He had some season” Bottas told reporters after the race, congratulating Hamilton.

Bottas, 30, had won in Australia, Azerbaijan and Japan already this year, and was repeatedly among the podium finishers.
