Big cash bonuses for ice hockey stars, as 2020 schedule unveiled

Players get rewarded handsomely for their efforts in Slovakia - and face some tough competition next year as well.

The Finnish Lions won a third World Championship gold by beating Canada 3-1 in the final last Sunday, and they’re set to strike gold at home as well.

The Finnish Ice Hockey Federation confirms that each player will receive a €27,000 bonus.

The money comes from the International Ice Hockey Federation IIHF as part of the World Championship budget.

2020 World Championship draw

No sooner than the Finns had returned from this year’s World Championships, but the draw for next year’s event has already taken place.

The 2020 tournament will be held in the Swiss cities of Zurich and Lausanne next May, with Finland in group B facing Russia, USA, Latvia, Norway, Italy, Kazakhstan and hosts Switzerland.
