The Centre Party’s candidate for the 2018 presidential elections, Matti Vanhanen has been hospitalised with a heart condition.
The announcement came on Vanhanen’s Facebook page, where he wrote that he has been in the hospital since Friday because of a cardiac arrhythmia – or an irregular heartbeat.
Vanhanen says he will continue treatment for at least the next two days, and has withdrawn from work and campaign duties.
The Centre Party candidate has pulled out of a planned panel discussion with six other presidential candidates which was scheduled for this evening.
Former Prime Minister Vanhanen is 62-years old.
