Finnish Exports Rising Sharply

New trade figures saw rise in exports, and imports too.

Finnish exports are rising sharply, according to new data from Customs.

The value of Finnish export goods grew by 20% overall in 2017 compared to the same period last year, and was worth nearly €4.7 billion.

Exports to EU countries grew by 17%. While exports to countries outside the EU grew by 14%.

Among the most important destinations were the Netherlands. For example in July, two cargo ships worth €89 million were exported there. And a sailboat worth €50 million was exported to Malta.

Imports are also on the rise. In July it was close to €5 billion and rose 14% from the beginning of the year compared with 2016.

Finland’s trade deficit reached €1.2 billion between January and July 2017.
