Four Safe After Pori Boat Blaze
Four people on a motorboat in Pori had a lucky escape after a late night blaze. It happened in the early hours of Monday morning, when the boat was in Kokemäenjoki lake; and after the blaze broke out, smoke quickly filled the engine room. Flames spread so quickly that extinguishers couldn’t put it out. The crew pointed the boat towards the beach and were able to jump off to safety. When firefighters arrived at the scene they found major damage to the boat, with most of the deck structures burned.
Pyhäranta Wildfire Zone Not Yet Safe
Fire crews are urging people not to go near the scene of the Pyhäranta wildfire because it is still not safe. The fire burned for several days last week on the west coast, and dozens of people had to be evacuated from their homes. Although the fire has now been extinguishes, the Southwest Finland Rescue Department says people shouldn’t go back to where the fire was burning because it’s still not completely safe. One hundred acres of land were burning in the wildfire.
