It happened in the early hours of Monday morning, when the boat was in Kokemäenjoki lake; and after the blaze broke out, smoke quickly filled the engine room. Flames spread so quickly that extinguishers couldn’t put it out. The crew pointed the boat towards the beach and were able to jump off to safety. When firefighters arrived at the scene they found major damage to the boat, with most of the deck structures burned.

Although the fire has now been extinguishes, the Southwest Finland Rescue Department says people shouldn’t go back to where the fire was burning because it’s still not completely safe. One hundred acres of land were burning in the wildfire.
