The ticket hall at Helsinki Central Station will not open until Thursday morning after a fire and smoke damage. Workers will continue to ventilate the premises. There were no injuries in the fire. Passengers can still access trains directly to the platform, although some information systems were not working this evening.

The ticket hall of Helsinki Central Station has been emptied of people as a precautionary measure, because there is a fire in the basement of the station. The fire has produced a lot of smoke, and rescue services were called around 17:30. Firefighters say they located the source of the blaze by 18:00. Access to the train tracks is still open. Trains are running as normal. There are no initial reports of casualties.
