Are you already missing the most wonderful time of the year?

Finland’s Christmas Radio station Jouluradio is extending the seasonal spirit from the usual holiday period, to all year round.

So you can listen to traditional and contemporary music from Finland and around the world online, 365 days a year.

Station bosses realised there was a market for Christmas music all year round, with the way people listen to music has changed, and streaming services like Spotify already seeing a spike in Christmas songs as early as September.

“Christmas music has become trendy” says Riitta Kalliorinne, Jouluradio’s Managing Director.

According to Kalliorinne, the transformation of Jouluradio’s seasonal broadcasts into a year-round format was quite an easy step thanks to the software to manage music lists.

“The aim of Jouluradio is to get even better interaction with the listeners, and to succeed in this, we need to be more and more present and awake in the online channels” she says.

Jouluradio started in 2003, and can be found on different frequencies in various parts of Finland, as well as broadcasting online. In 2016 it was attracting more than 700,000 listeners each week during the Christmas season, with many visitors finding the website and listening to Christmas music from Germany and the USA as well as in Finland.
