The annual tax day in Finland reveals each year who paid the most taxes - and who declared the most taxable income.
It’s become a national obsession in the Nordic nation, with the media pouring over every details of sports stars, politicians, musicians and business leaders.
On top of this year’s list are gaming company Supercell CEO Ilkka Paananen with more than €109 million; and the company’s Creative Director Mikko Kodisoja with €98 million.
The rest of the top five is rounded out by businessman Heikki Kyöstilä with €47 million; Asko Myllymäki (a member of the Lehto Group management who sold his stake in the company) at €40.5 million; and in fifth place also the highest placed woman on the new list business owner Maria Sever with €36.2 million.
State own company CEO incomes
There’s been a lot of negative media coverage this year about the amount of salary paid to the CEOs of Finnish state-owned companies.
Those executives appear prominently on this year’s list with some big salaries: Veikkaus Managing Director Olli Sarekoski €388,631; Alko CEO Leena Laitinen €344,826; Fortum CEO Pekka Lundmark €1,440,518; Finnair CEO Topi Manner €960,000; VR CEO Rolf Jansson €605,000; Yle CEO Merja Ylä-Anttila €235, 450.
