Global superstar Ed Sheeran is preparing for his second concert on Wednesday night at Malmi Airport.

Over the course of two days more than 100,000 fans will see the musician rock the stage in what is being billed as Finland’s biggest-ever music event.

Gates to the event open early afternoon and as you can see from this video thousands and thousands of people streamed in as soon as they could to get a good spot in the audience.

The event organizer recommends arriving no later than 18:00 if you want to be sure to see the evening’s main show in full.

Police are warning drivers to avoid the area if they’re not attending the gigs, and say the area will be congested with cars between 14:00 and 01:00.

All 60,000 tickets for tonight’s concert are sold out and police say the venue is sunny “so we recommend wearing a hat and using sunscreen. Don’t forget proper dancing shoes and to drink water regularly”.

Extra public transport

There’s going to be extra public transport also on Wednesday.

More departures and longer trains are operated on the P, N and T lines from Malmi towards Helsinki; and on the I, N and T lines towards Tikkurila, Helsinki Airport, Myrrmäki, Kerava and Riihimäki.

Since there’s only a few bus lines which go to Malmi Airport, and they’re expected to be full of Ed Sheeran fans, line 554 will have additional departures towards Itäkeskus after the concert.

Helsinki metro will operate two hours later with trains from Itäkeskus to Tapiola running at 10 minute intervals; and Vuosaari to Mellunmäki running at 20 minute intervals.

Metro lines can be used in conjunction with bus lines 554, 560 and 561 from the eastern metro stations to and from Malmi Airport.
