Seinäjoki is offering a unique job to someone who wants to discover the city.
For a salary of more than €8000 plus accommodation, the successful applicant would spend 10 days in the northern city using social media to tell its story.
The aim? To get more people learning about that Seinäjoki has to offer.
“We’re not a very big city but very forward looking city. We have spirit. A kind of attitude that beats the whole of Finland” says Sanna Männikkö the city’s marketing manager.
In August the city proclaimed itself Finland’s ‘Capital of Space’ because of the room to grow in the region, which attracts up to 800 new residents every year and will add €1 billion of inward investment by 2021
“Since we are the ‘Capital of Space’, we launched this idea, because we have so much nice living space and that’s why we thought a person who could come here could look around and make notes and social media posts about living in this ‘Capital of Space'” Männikkö tells News Now Finland.
The successful social media super fan will record video blogs and write posts about the city of 63,000 people. Candidates have until 10th December to submit their video applications explaining why they’re the best person for the job. The winner will be chosen before Christmas, and start their time in Seinäjoki during January.
There’s even hotel accommodation or an apartment thrown in to sweeten the deal.
“Many people pass through Seinäjoki because we are such a network hub for the railways. We are the capital of entrepreneurship and all the entrepreneurs in Finland say that this is the best city for companies to deal with so in that sense we are in a good position that we have a very good spirit for business” explains Sanna Männikkö.
The ideal candidate would ideally speak Finnish, and definitely be someone from outside the Seinäjoki area so they can see the city through a fresh set of eye when they’re working on the job.
